Get out your paints and let your child explore circles.
You'll Need:
Paint in at least 2 colors
Containers for paint
Paper or substitute
Optional:
Paint Brush
Soap
Directions:
Set up your space by setting down paper. You may put out one sheet or tape down a few sheets to cover the table. Alternatively you may use cardboard such as a cereal box, grocery bag, or from packages in the mail. Break them down so they lay flat. You can cut out a large side so there are no folds, or cut off extra sides and tape next to the rest so you have a solid surface.
Next, pour paint into containers. It actually may be easier to water this down a little. You can also add a squeeze or two of dish soap to make the paint a little sudsy and a different sensory experience. You want containers that open wide but are shallow. Use at least two colors. I try to pick ones that mix well together, like two primaries.
Now place out your circles. This could be plastic cups, puzzle pieces, pom poms, cotton balls, cardboard you have cut out, sponges, whatever you have. Choose 3-10 different types and sizes of circles to explore.
Once you have this all set up, let your child explore! They should naturally gravitate towards using the circles to dip in the paint and press onto the paper. If not, that's okay! If you want to do one or two with them, that's okay too! If they'd rather just paint, that's fine! This is for them to explore.
