Construction Paper Weaving Loom

Set this craft up to do with your child. If you have a loom, use that if you'd like to instead.

You'll need:

Construction Paper

Scissors

Directions:

Choose a piece for your "loom". Cut straight lines, each about 1 in apart, all going in the same direction. You will want to leave about .5 inches around each paper edge uncut. Next, cut construction paper strips about 1 inch off a different sheet (or multiple sheets for more colors). Weave the paper in and out, push each piece to one side so you can fit more in.

If you want to take this further, you can use a large sheet of paper or thin cardboard box broken down (like cereal box) and edges cut off (use one large side). You can paint this prior to the craft so it's a solid color (or pattern) vs cereal box color. You can glue or tape the ends of strips of paper together once it's weaved so they are longer (and maybe more colorful) and stay together. Or, you can cut out a shape and glue all ends together in areas it's no longer connected to the "loom".

Have fun with this, play with colors and design. Once done, you can certainly hang on the fridge to show off and remind you of your time together.
