Curved and Round Letter Shapes

For this activity, we will be exploring letters with curved and round shapes.

You'll need:

The print out (or make your own)

Items that are round, curved, or can be manipulated to be round or curved

Directions:

Print out the letter cards. You can save them and use them for other activities. To make them more durable, you can laminate or glue to cardboard (and cut to shape). You can put out all of the curved and rounded letters, or pick out a small amount.

Set up the space with the cards and various items. The items could be play dough, stickers, pom poms, pipe cleaners, whatever you have that will work. If you haven't done this before, show your child how to do this activity. Play dough works great and doubles as a great fine motor activity plus builds muscles for writing!

You can make this a little more challenging by asking them to only match the actual curves or circles in the letters. You can set up sight words or even their name for this challenge, or you can let them pick out which ones to use.

Once they are done with the cards, if you are not saving them, you can show them they can practice their scissor skills but cutting on the curved lines.

Even further, you could ask them to sort by letters with curves and letters without curves.

So many ways and levels to explore curved letters!
