This activity helps teach about letter shapes by following and matching with materials and practices glue use. Easy to set up and very versatile. For Fall, we're using colors and materials accordingly.
You'll need:
Tissue paper in fall colors (red, orange, yellow, brown)
OR
Leaves
Paper
Glue Sticks
Directions:
Set up your kids with the word 'FALL' on a piece of paper each. Make sure the letters aren't too close together, but still look like they are a word. Alternatively, you could just do one letter per page (and maybe piece together by following the sounds!). Set up your child with materials ready for gluing- either pieces of tissue paper (big enough for your child to easily pick up and put glue on, but not so big it'll end up losing the letter shape when all together). If they need you to, show them how to follow the letter line with their materials. If you are using leaves, you could place double stick tape over the letters, so your child can just place the leaf down. This might work better for younger toddlers anyways. If you don't have leaves or tissue paper, construction paper, pom poms, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, and stickers are all fine alternatives. When you're done, you can hang this up if your child's workspace or in your daycare room for a little seasonal decoration.
