Ocean Animals Small World Play

Writer's picture: Elizabeth GrussElizabeth Gruss

Find your small world area inside or out. Add some ocean animals, shells, small ocean colored beads and stones. For inside, place a large blue piece of felt, cloth, or whatever you have, on their table or the floor. Option to add a yellow spot to represent the sandy beach or an island. Feel free to add blue blocks, boats, anything you have that could be added to the theme. Then- let your child explore and play. They don't need much help to get into small world play. For outside- fill a water table. Option to add blue food dye, salt, or even some dish soap to make the water more sudsy. If water play is not an option, just find an area to set up. They really don't need much, and the less, the more their imagination soars. Switch out items to keep the game going longer.
