Oobleck

Oobleck!! Oobleck is one of our favorite things. So many ways to enjoy this, so easy, and so affordable. Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid, meaning it changes depending on how you change it. Leave it alone, and it's a liquid, touch it, and it turns into a solid, even can be broken and crumble. I could play with this for hours, if I ever had hours to play with Oobleck. It can get a little messy, so setting this up outside is perfect! We like to add, paint, dishsoap, food dye, oils, construction cars, etc, to make this more fun and versatile. Literally I set up big water sand tables for Oobleck play, and the sensory seeking kids will stay and play focused for *hours*. It's the best. I will have more posts on ideas for Oobleck play later, but for now, here is the original Oobleck recipe.

You'll need:

-Cornstarch

-Water

Directions:

Mix 2 parts Cornstarch to 1 part water. Mix slowly and feel free to go hands in. Let your child mix if they are old enough. You can add food dye to the water to make this colorful with out changing the ratios. You can get big containers of cornstarch at the store for a couple of dollars. Make sure to store your Oobleck to help it last longer. It will not last forever, but if you seal it, you at least should have the week, or more. We like to keep adding cornstarch and water to watch it change from more liquidy to more putty-like.
