Oobleck Experiment

End your week with some good ol' Oobleck!
You'll need:
Cornstarch
Water
Tools such as scoopers, bowls, etc
Optional:
Food Dye
Toy Animals
Directions:
Set out a bowl full of cornstarch and another bowl with water (this is when you would add food dye and stir well). Set out a tub to mix in (works best if the whole experiment fits in here- the bowls full of ingredients with room for another bowl to mix in, or just space in the tub to mix in). Set out at least one spoon or spatula for mixing, and whatever other tools or small world play items you'd like. You really don't need much with Oobleck though!
Let your child experiment with adding different ratios of cornstarch and water. If you know they will just dump it all in- that's fine too! You could give them a little more later, or just let them have what you set out originally. Older children may want to really see what happens with a higher cornstarch or water ratio. But younger toddlers will benefit just from mixing. It's all good!
If you want to take this further, set them up to make two batches. Make them each a different color, and use colors that either will mix well together, or that your child picks to see mix. With Oobleck, it won't mix entirely, so this is a great way to see swirls, separation, as well as mixing. It won't go all brown-grey like paint.
