This is another fun way for your child to get to know their face. We have several ways to make self portraits on here. This one explores shapes of the face, and is a more abstract way to create.

You'll need:

Various shapes cut out or from blocks

Glue optional

Hand held mirror

Directions:

Set your child up with a place to create. They can move the shapes on a piece of paper, a board, little table, or inside a frame. Older kids might want to glue their creation down. For the shapes, I suggest having ones shapes like eyes, noses, cheeks, etc, but others that aren't so they can explore putting shapes together to make new ones. You can add shapes of different heights, for example. pom poms or small blocks. Once they've done this a few times. you can add feathers, pipe cleaners, dry noodles, any other craft supplies to make this more colorful and 3 dimensional. See where it takes your child! Listen to what they ask for.
