Soapy Sponge Leaf Stamps

This is a fun way to mix art, sensory, fine motor, and fall colors.

You'll need:

-Sponges cut into leaf shapes

-Paint (in fall colors- red and yellow to mix and make orange)

-Paper

-Dish soap (I love getting giant bottles of Dawn)

-Paint containers

Directions:

Set up your kids with paper, sponges, and paint, You can add the soap and a little water to their paint containers, or give them a container with soapy water to choose how they mix/dip. I suggest containers with a wider, more shallow bottom (vs paint cup) to fit the sponge with out absorbing a crazy amount of paint/soap, so each time they press down, it gives more of the shape and less of the over spill. You could put out a large piece of paper to share (ex covering the whole table) or large broken down cardboard boxes. If they paint a large cardboard box, you can put it back together, tape it up, cut out a door, maybe a window, and give them a playhouse (or car, etc). I like to re-purpose as much as I can, even if that means giving it one more use before it gets trashed, it at least takes the place of whatever you would have used. If you use individual paper, this could be a great take home craft that isn't adult guided.
